On June 8 2023, Emi Rowse (Igusa), partner of Kudun and Partners and head of the Japan practice, joined Legal Plus’ 4th Annual International Arbitration and Corporate Crime Summit in Thailand as a panelist. Emi spoke on the 3rd Grand Panel entitled “AML, FCPA, Anti-bribery, whistleblowing- Protecting your Company”. After sharing a brief overview of the relevant laws in Thailand, Singapore, India, HK and Japan, the panelists shared their thoughts on the current trends and practical experiences dealing with matters concerning asset tracing, cybercrime and fraud cases. Some of the key points discussed were on how to create effective internal policies to protect companies from fraud and the need to implement clear whistleblowing legislations in some of these jurisdictions (including Thailand) to encourage and protect whistleblowers.
The other panelists were Eugene Thuraisingam, Sameet Gambhir, Chitchai Punsan and the panel was moderated by Selina Toh. The event was well attended by in-house counsel and lawyers from firms in Thailand and in the region.
